Who We Are – Israni Lab
Dr. Israni is a Professor of Medicine (tenured) and Division Chief of Nephrology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). He leads the Molecular Epidemiology Laboratory and has extensive experience conducting multi-center transplantation studies and mentoring post-doctoral fellows. Many of his fellows have become independent investigators. His work spans large administrative datasets (UNOS/USRDS/SRTR) and genetics, including pharmacokinetics and genomics in transplantation. He served as Project Director for the NIAID-funded GEN03 study and leads an NIH R01 on gut microbiota and immunosuppressant metabolism.
